Donoghue students perform at the Lightbearer Gala

Open Book Participants from University of Chicago-Donoghue Elementary School perform a piece based on the book Ziggy and the Black Dinosaurs by Sharon Draper during the Sixth Annual Lightbearer Benefit Gala for the Institute for Positive Living’s (IPL) Open Book Program on May 3, 2007 at the Marmon Grand Ballroom, 2230 S. Michigan, in Chicago. The Lightbearer Gala was a fundraiser for the Open Book Program, a multi-faceted after-school program that engages youth in activities that encourage development of their reading, writing and critical thinking skills.
