Open Book Program, a multi-faceted after-school program for young adolescents in which participants are engaged in activities that encourage the development of reading, writing and critical thinking skills.

My experience from meeting Walter Dean Myers was really good because I never met an author before. By meeting him I experienced a good thing. For example, he started writing when he was 27 years of age. We learned about his life and his hometown Harlem and about his family. He dropped out of school at 17 to join the army. He published 80 books and he spends 3 hours writing 5 pages a day of his new book. I didn’t know that authors make thousands of dollars a day. I experienced good things from meeting Watler Dean Myers.
