My experience with Walter Dean Myers was like no other. You don’t always have to write about rap music; you could write about your surroundings or neighborhood where you grew up. I learned that Myers writes 5 pages of a book in 3 hours; he writes 5 days a week. I learned that Walter Dean Myers had speech problems, but that didn’t stop him. I noticed that Myers loved his hometown, Harlem. Myers wanted his kids to have books with their images in them. I learned that reading is the key to this world because before you could write a book you have to know how to read. I had a good time meeting Walter Dean Myers.
